On October 31, 2024, TCS Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang attended the 12th Seminar on Policy on Declining and Ageing Population and delivered congratulatory remarks during the opening session. This forum, hosted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan and Children and Families Agency brought together government officials from China Population and Development Research Center and the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the ROK, as well as experts from the three countries. Participants shared insights on the current situation and solutions under the two themes: “Preventing Decline in Birth Rates and Marriage” and “Community-Based Integrated Care for the Elderly.”

In his remarks, DSG YAN underscored the importance of this year’s themes, emphasizing that addressing declining birth rates and enhancing elderly care are essential to tackling aging population challenges in the region. Acknowledging the low birth rates and increasing elderly populations in all three countries, he stressed the need for collaboration in healthcare and social systems. DSG Yan reaffirmed TCS’s commitment to supporting intergovernmental cooperation through forums and joint initiatives, with the goal of fostering sustainable, elderly-friendly societies.
